How to Register for a Class at Y2K9s
Fun with Your Dog
Tricks - Beginner. If you are looking for a way to impress your friends, hoping to build the foundation for freestyle or just want to bond and have fun with your dog, this is a great class to take. The principles of teaching tricks, clicker work, how to get the most out of your tricks will all be addressed. Bring plenty of high value treats.
Tricks - Advanced. For students of the Beginner Tricks class who want more of a challenge with more complex tricks (multiple parts/behaviors) or for the clicker-savvy individual with a good background in shaping, this class will take your tricks to the next level..
Canine Freestyle. Ready to dance with your dog, or give it a try? This class is for dog and handler teams interested in the sport of Canine Freestyle. In addition to moves, content will address choreography, music selection, costumes, style and putting it all together. Some knowledge of basic moves required
Rally Beginner Skills. Looking to continue building a lasting relationship with your dog while preparing for competition, just having fun, or building a bond before you try a more intense sport such as Agility or Flyball? This course may be just right for you. It's also perfect for those retired or retiring agility/flyball dogs who still want to be active. Basic Rally Skills will cover a series of Rally signs each with, emphasizing proper form, with guidance on how to look like a “pro.” Heeling techniques will also be covered in this course.
Rally Advanced Skills. This is for the Rally enthusiast who has had some experience with Rally. Multi-level signs will be presented each and off-lead skills will be emphasized as well using Dawn Jecs' Choose to Heel methodology. Both APDT and AKC advanced level signs will be used in this class.
Disc Doc. Learn the art of chase, catch, retrieve, how to throw catchable passes, and tricky throws!
K9 Fitness - This course will teach you and your dog exercises for improving strength, flexibility, proprioception, and endurance. Core and hindquarter strength will be emphasized. Most exercises can be performed indoors and are perfect for maintaining fitness thorough the winter. Appropriate for young dogs, geriatric dogs who need to increase strength, and performance dogs. No prior training required. Open to all dogs over six months of age
