MANNERS CLASSES AT Y2K9S

How to Register for a Class at Y2K9s

Manners Classes Include:

Puppy Pre-School.  For pups from 8-16 weeks of age, or slightly older for very small breeds, this class addresses issues specific to young puppies as well as teaching very basic good behaviors. Coming when called and not jumping up are emphasized.  

Basic Canine Manners.   For dogs 4 months and older, this class teaches basic good manners: stays, coming, polite greeting and loose-lead walking.

Advanced Canine Manners.  This class will focus on polishing skills learned in Beginners Obedience class.  Recalls & building drive, relationship & teamwork, drills that focus on left- and right-sided exercises, heeling (both sides) including footwork are examples of what may be covered in this class.  Some Choose-to-heel and Rhythm heeling may be incorporated.  Dogs will be prepared to complete the Canine Good Citizen test if desired.

Preparing For the Canine Good Citizen Test (CGC) and/or Therapy Dog Work. This class will build on basic obedience with a focus on skills comprising the 10 components of the CGC. Dogs will be also be introduced to the wheelchair, the walker, crutches, and the cane, preparing those who are interested to take either Therapy Dog International (TDI) or Comfort Caring Canines Therapy Dog tests. If possible a field trip to a facility will be available. The Canine Good Citizen Test will be offered; however, this class does not certify dogs as Therapy Dogs.  Prerequisites: Beginners obedience or puppy preschool (puppies should be close to one year of age).

Recall and Off Lead Skills.  Would you love to be able to call your dog away from interesting things?  Do you feel safe running your dog in open fields?  Is beginning agility harder because your dog is more interested in other things than he is you?  Take this class and improve your off lead control and increase your dog's focus on you and work.  

How to Register for a class at Y2K9s:

1. FOR ALL OTHER CLASSES  - Email our Registrar registrarothcl@y2k9s.net to inquire if there is space available in your class and to reserve a spot. 
2. Send in the appropriate registration form and check to the corresponding  registrar within five days of reserving a spot, or your reservation will be cancelled.
