There is so much to learn in agility, so this specialized class just focuses on weaves and contacts. This is a foundation level class geared towards the first time handler, experienced handler with a new dog, or a team that needs to revisit foundation and/or troubleshoot an issue. We will not be running courses in this class.
Weaves:
Weave skills will be broken down into 2 categories - entries (where we train the dog how to find the correct entry from different approaches) and completing the weaves (where we train the dog to continue to weave with handler motion and distractions)
Teams will be introduced to several weaves training methods; 2×2 weaves, channels and guide wires.
Contacts:
This class will introduce travel plank work, 2 on/2 off end behavior, review of teeter banggame, contact release work, correct approach and exit of contact obstacles to and from other obstacles, independent contact performance, contact performance (running, 2o/2o, 4-on, etc) and the advantages/disadvantages of each, how to choose the right method for your dog, all while separating the contact performance from navigating the contact obstacle.
