Heat injuries can escalate quickly in sport and working dogs, especially as environmental demands and training intensity increase. This presentation will cover the key risk factors that contribute to overheating, how to recognize early warning signs such as changes in behavior, respiration, and recovery, and the practical steps handlers can take to reduce risk. Emphasis will be placed on proactive management strategies; including conditioning, hydration, acclimation, and thoughtful session planning to support safe, sustainable performance.

The presenter is Bridget Beardsley, owner of Gold Standard Pet Services.
Bridget spent nearly a decade at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, where she helped develop and place more than 100 working dogs nationwide and internationally. Her specialties include early olfaction, puppy development, cooperative care, and behavior shaping for operational tasks.

This is a dog-free event that will be held in area C and online via Zoom.
