Date/Time: 1/20/24 9am-5pm (with a one hour break for lunch)
Working Spot Prerequisites:  Adult dogs should have passed the CGC test, or have equivalent skills, such as:

  • have at least a 30-second stay.
  • must be friendly and social with people, and tolerate a stranger touching them
  • must be social or neutral towards other dogs.  During practical sessions, there will be multiple dogs working at the same time

Have you ever wondered where the dogs that you see in commercials and movies come from? Are you interested in Animal Acting and Modeling, but don’t know where to start?

Join Kelly Peterson of Dognerd Animal Talent for a full day of learning what you need to know in order to prepare your dog to succeed on set!

Kelly has more than 20 years experience in both the media production industry (as an Art Director) and also as a competitive dog trainer and instructor. She is uniquely positioned to cast, train and wrangle animals on set for both photo and video productions.

  • In this workshop, Kelly will guide you through the expectations of the entire production process, as you learn valuable skills such as:
  • How the production business works, and who the key players are
  • Learning what skills are needed for still photography and video work
  • How to work with models and actors
  • How to position your dog to solicit and gain work
  • Learn what to expect on set, and how to problem solve in the moment

The morning and afternoon will be both lecture and practical work.  Mid afternoon, we will be joined by photographer M. Nicole Fischer.  Nicole will be providing “real-world” experience for the working dogs, who will all receive 1 digital headshot image (additional images will be available for purchase directly from Nicole).

Working spots limited to 10. Auditing spots limited to 15.
Cost: $325 for members, $375 for non-members, auditing $100 for members, $130 for non-members
