Nose Work

An introduction to the new and exciting dog sport of K9 Nose Work®. Based on professional detection dog techniques, K9 Nose Work® is fun for dogs of all breeds, ages and personalities. Dogs start by searching for their favorite food or toy reward hidden in a variety of environments. It is a terrific way to allow your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn mental and physical energy. Handlers will start to see and learn how to read their dog’s body language when working scent.
Prerequisite: Dog must be comfortable in a crate while other dogs are working.

For dogs who have had an Intro to Nose Work class or the equivalent, this class will introduce the scent odors used in nose work. If your dog has done primary (searches) and is ready to learn the scents, this is the next class progression.
Prerequisite: Prior Nose Work Class or permission of the instructor.

Nose Work is the fun search and scenting activity for virtually all dogs and people. Intermediate course picks up where the Intro class left off. Advanced is for those students who are proficient on all odors used by either AKC or NASCW.
Prerequisite: Prior Nose Work Class or permission of the instructor.
