For dogs 4 months and older. Dogs and owners will be introduced to using a clicker and other methods of positive reinforcement based training. This class teaches basic good manners, including but not limited to polite greeting, loose lead walking, sit, down, stay, and coming when called. How to address minor problematic behaviors such as jumping, chewing, taking objects, and barking will be covered as needed. If requested at the start of a session by a student, the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test can be offered at the end of your session for dogs under one year of age.
Prerequisite: None

Please note:

On the first day of class, please bring proof of current dog inoculations to class.

The methods we use for dog training calls for a lot of food reward. Bring a large supply of small, tasty treats.

Four to six foot leads and a buckle collar are recommended. Please, no Flexi Leads. We may recommend the use of an alternate head halter or harness; they are available for sale at class.

Family members are encouraged to attend: small children are welcome if they are not disruptive. On the first night of Basic Canine Manners there are no dogs in class. It is an introductory session best enjoyed without dogs.
